Thoughtful design for child’s room in Chennai
Chennai-based Peekaboo Interiors has designed the Multi-themed Children’s Room. The client is a little boy interested in space exploration and Lego, and the firm created a room with different design elements to pique his curiosity, provide talking points and spark creativity. The bed with its plush mustard upholstered headboard is propped up against aerospace-themed wallpaper with teddy bears and lions propelled into space. Twinkling lights embedded in the ceiling provide a starry night setup.
One of the corners of the room features the bespoke Play Bunk bed that accommodates art and craft, pretend play, or meditation in the lower nook. This has a blackboard and a pin-up board, while the upper tier is best suited for sleep time. The sloping roof of the play bunk has cheery yellow tiles, which are also reflected in the house-shaped storage unit. The spacious storage unit has open cubbies of different dimensions for storage, huge soft-close drawers, a picket fence shelf, and cabinet hinge LED lights that go on and off as one opens and closes the cubbies.
Activity tables and chairs sit on the transport-themed rug and the room is outfitted with star-themed window curtains and blinds. Accessories reflect the child’s personality and run cohesively through the design language, such as the elephant-shaped lamp on the pleated cabinet or the glider-themed lamp in the bath space.
