Vaastu and water elements for Hubli residence

Bengaluru-based 4site Architects has designed A Home by the Park, a residential project for a nature-loving family in Hubli, Karnataka. Facing a park on the east and an approach road on the west, the 5 BHK residence was built on a plot size spread across 7050 sq. ft. The challenge was to connect Vaastu, privacy, and unobstructed views of the park within the project.

A series of three green spaces – front garden, central rain court and rear private gardens create an infinite visual extension to the park. Invoking a sense of serenity, the front garden seamlessly camouflages with the raised garden, creating a difference between the public and private spaces. Spread over 20 ft by 30 ft, these spaces remain visually connected.

At the center of the house, the rain court is a double-height space with a light well connecting the living spaces. Bringing in the diffused light from the enclosure creates a homely essence, and changes its scenery with seasonal flowers and shrubs. A water sheet fountain and a fresh-water aquarium add freshness, and the tree binds the space. Due to the present external security, the windows of the internal rain court are left grill-free. The master bedroom opens out to the rear garden on the southwest as per Vaastu guidelines, while the other rooms face the outdoor park.
