Wood, brass and cane fixtures for Noida boutique

New Delhi-based RMDK has designed Shakuntalam in Noida, an exclusive, rustic and earthy designer store, representing an innovative and futuristic take on Indian heritage.

The retail store exudes handcrafted contemporary luxury with wood, brass, and cane achieved through texture and lighting. A white color scheme with tones of wood gives a minimal yet regal look that highlights the bridal garments on display. A warm chequered stone floor and wooden ceiling feature traditional wooden cornices and rafter beams. Rough and polished wood is contrasted with accents of sleek brass fixtures for the display and storage systems. Traditional architecture and embroidery patterns are reinterpreted into modern patterns and installations to emphasize modern Indian craftsmanship.

Embroidery motifs can be seen as minimal patterns in wood on the display units across the store and stone-finish wall cladding at the entrance. Cane has been extensively used, complementing the principal language of weaves and patterns and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Shakuntalam fuses the traditional, local and contemporary Indian experience to create a simple yet sophisticated design.
