Art Deco luxury for Gorakhpur cinema hall refurbishment
New Delhi-based Sync Design Studio has designed the Reel, a refurbishment project at the Inox Cinema, City Mall, Gorakhpur. The client wanted the space to guarantee an enjoyable experience and generate more revenue. Therefore, an eclectic Art Deco style is chosen to promote a modern-day cinematic experience in a luxurious setting spread over 19,500 sq. ft.
A floating vault with a geometric-patterned copper screen in the glazing welcomes visitors to the shopfront. Champagne-gold wall coverings, wood-paneled doors with antique copper accents, and chequered tile patterns are inspired by the Art Deco theme. Elegant arches at the foyer combine historical architecture with modern cinema, along with large chandeliers and wall sconces.
A circular lounge with full-height glazing and Georgian metal bar inserts is tucked away in a corner, set off with bespoke furniture. A floating double dome with customized copper detailing glows with a crystal suspension; these locally sourced design elements help maintain the budget without compromising on the aesthetics. Auditoriums are designed with triangular forms illuminated with profile LED lighting on the side panels offering visual depth. Washrooms have an island vanity counter with a suspended metal mirror frame from the elliptical ceiling and customized illumination on the side.
