Modern Victorian décor for Mumbai home

Mumbai-based Greenhatch Architects has designed The Quaint House, which is a 3BHK apartment balanced with Victorian aesthetic and modern décor. The entrance foyer is defined by the bar unit cabinet and features accent walls, decorative lighting and Georgian moulding in the ceiling.

The living area has a blue sofa and a striped carpet to break up the space, along with a light beige mid-century-style armchair and sheer curtains. The television unit is set against grooved charcoal panelling, and the gallery wall stands against the same. Decorative mirror panelling visually opens up the dining space and reflects the pendant light, marble dining table and beige upholstered chairs.

The mother’s bedroom features pastel-blue-and-gold foliated wallpaper as the accent wall, along with cane knobs on the soft pink cabinets and a chandelier-crowned side table. The son’s bedroom has white walls complementing the cream and latte-toned furniture and is illuminated by a gold-plated and crystal glass wall lamp. A custom-designed frameless Victorian-style mirror is placed on the wall.

The mustard-yellow ceiling in the guest room and study brings an unexpected cheerfulness to the space, which is complemented by white walls and curtains. Patterned pillow covers and a deep yellow throw align with the colourful photographs hung above the bed and the textured metal lamp on the side table. The home receives abundant natural light in the morning, which changes into accent lighting through table lamps, wall sconces, pendant lights and chandeliers.
