Bengaluru-based architecture and design firm Cauvery Associates have designed Sampa, a residential project. Brick is the major construction material used with stone and wood finishes. The clients wanted a home that was spacious for a leisurely living, and a space to showcase a collection of art and crafts.

The hot Bengaluru weather and the exterior greenery complemented the outdoor seating, garden spaces, and large balconies and windows. The elegant exterior was achieved with stone and wood finish, whereas the stone used is also a locally-sourced material. Marble flooring has been used for the flooring in the main spaces, while the rest have been fitted with vitrified tiles. The entire house features a neutral color palette with shades of beige, browns and dark browns.

The double-height living room features a traditional pattern on the back-wall and spots of greenery against the skylight. The dining table is the major centerpiece of the dining area sporting knick-knacks on the small table. A wall has been dedicated to colorful artwork collected from the clients’ travels. The bedroom reflects the muted color palette with bright spots of color with rug and cushions. A seat has been constructed against the window to provide one with the views of the greenery outside. The verandah has been left bare except for a simple wooden table for one to move about freely in the space.
