Refined luxury for New Delhi apartment

New Delhi-based K2India has designed The Camellias 001, which is a residential project spanning 6800 sq. ft. that displays understated luxury and simplicity through crafts and collectibles. A private elevator lobby decorated with paper artwork by Sachin George Sebastian leads to the grand entrance door, handcrafted with brass sheets and wooden handles using the Shou Sugi Ban technique. Dyed ash wood veneer covers the walls and ceilings inside, and the Mekhala Bahl art piece and a sideboard in cast metal inspired by ginkgo leaves welcome the visitor.

A series of doors from here lead to the small family mandir that embodies reverence and tranquillity, and the glass doors guide to the expansive living and dining room with panoramic views. The living room features antique mirrors from K2India and a Pichhwai artwork showcasing Indian artifacts and hand-crafted furniture. The dining area is separated by sliding glass doors and features a long table illuminated by a Bocci-73 light installation. Soft yellow velvet chairs and ink and charcoal drawings by Sunil Das add refined elegance and artistic expression. Antique bronze and brass vessels from South India and ritual bathing vessels made from Kansa metal decorate the dining table.

An organically-shaped brass mirror by K2India complements the solid oakwood armor in the master bedroom, which also exudes sophistication with a cane and teakwood bed with bed linen from Shades of India. Pendant lights and a wall unit with artwork by Shruti Mahajan combine creativity and functionality, and the space is decorated with an eclectic assortment of art pieces from different parts of India. An antique brass sculpture of Varaha, an avatar of Lord Vishu, exemplifies a timeless beauty.
