Understated luxury for Gurugram residence

Gurugram-based ASRO Arcade has designed The Stallion, a luxury residence spread over 4500 sq. ft. that resembles a series of floating wooden boxes held by a soaring roof plane. Apart from providing distinctive functional spaces, it delivers modernity, warmth privacy and comfort to different generational lifestyles in the house.

Being a contoured site, the house exploits the site terrain to form two levels, each dedicated to public and private functions using linear striation, clean lines and symmetry. It opens into a double-height entrance with a floating staircase, which enhances the room’s height even further. Neutral leather furniture and warm lighting ensure a comfortable and inviting space that speaks of understated luxury. Exploring the traditional craft of India, the residence is integrated with landscaping outside. Stone is used in one corner, metal in another and textiles are incorporated into a third zone.

To ensure privacy in open interaction, the house is divided into three floors – each highlighting a different material. The living and dining spaces on the first floor are connected by the open terrace, which ensures natural sunlight and ventilation through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the front elevation – inviting family interaction and an unobstructed view. It also features a private living room and bedroom, which create a warm resting space.

The topmost floor combines a family lounge and two bedrooms with a vast terrace, which again brings in fresh light and air. Spacious balconies and planters invite the indoor-outdoor concept, and a wooden lattice partition brings in daylight and covers the water feature in the balcony. A wooden deck bridges the external courtyard giving it a rustic appearance, and large windows interconnects the outdoors with the interiors.
